D-Mannose is a natural sugar present in cranberries, blueberries, apples, pears, oranges, and other plant foods. Its name is derived from "Manna" the sweet secretion of plants known since biblical times. This sugar is not well metabolized in the human digestive tract, and therefore does not contribute to increasing glucose levels in the blood. D-Mannose is helpful in the management of urinary tract infections, and prevents pathogenic microbes from adhering to the mucosal lining of the urinary tract.
